FA chiefs insist Jenas’ card reversal will stand

FA bosses insist the decision to downgrade Jermaine Jenas’ red card at Arsenal on Sunday will stand despite the launch of a review of their disciplinary procedures.

The FA were looking at their general policy on referee re-thinks and the appeals process after being contacted by FIFA in the wake of Steve Bennett’s decision to reduce the Newcastle midfielder’s punishment for a challenge on Gilberto to a caution.

“We can confirm we have received communication from FIFA and we will be reviewing our position and responding to that,” a spokesman said.
