Pleat sympathetic for sacked Hoddle

TOTTENHAM caretaker manager David Pleat yesterday expressed his sympathy for departed Glenn Hoddle and said the club have made no plans for a successor.

Director of football Pleat is in temporary charge at White Hart Lane, seemingly until next week at the earliest when chairman Daniel Levy is due to return from honeymoon.

Numerous candidates have been touted to follow Hoddle since the club's announcement of his sacking on Sunday, including Martin O'Neill, Raddy Antic and Klaus Toppmoller, the man who led Bayer Leverkusen to the Champions League final.
