Dropped Senderos gets Wenger backing

ARSENE WENGER admitted he had to remove Philippe Senderos from the Arsenal firing line after his loss of confidence, but backed him to recover and become an “immense player.”

Senderos, 20, hardly put a foot wrong in the second half of last season when he replaced the injured Sol Campbell, contributing to 12 clean sheets in 14 Premiership and FA Cup appearances from March to the end of the campaign.

However, he was muscled out of the Community Shield by Didier Drogba, who scored twice, then returned to haunt him at Stamford Bridge last weekend with Chelsea’s winner.
