FAI president is elected to prestigious UEFA post

FAI PRESIDENT Milo Corcoran, was yesterday elected to a prestigious post with UEFA in which he will have responsibility for under-age football.

Mr Corcoran will serve for two years on the Youth and Amateur Committee where one of his principal functions will be to organise international tournaments. His first appointment will see him take charge of a mini-tournament for youth teams in Greece and Cyprus in October. Yesterday he said: “We are strengthening our representation on the international bodies all the time and this latest appointment is further recognition of the FAI. It is very encouraging.

“Other FAI officers serving with UEFA are Brendan Menton, general secretary, and John Delaney, honorary secretary, both members of the Projects Committee; Pat Kelly and Paddy Daly are referees’ assessors; Michael Hyland is on the Disciplinary Committee and Joe McGlue, is a member of the Security Committee.
