Euro 2008 bid safe after resignation

EURO 2008 bid marketing director Simon Lyons maintained that there would be no knock-on effect for the Scotland-Ireland bid for the European Championships after the resignation of FAI treasurer Brendan Menton.

Lyons said: ''It will have no effect on the bid at all. There are two associations working for the bid and both of those are still standing.

''Brendan was very supportive of the bid in his role within the project as is the whole of the association," he said.
