Hatters move 10 points clear

RUNAWAY Coca-Cola League One leaders Luton chalked up their sixth straight home win - 3-0 over Hartlepool - to move 10 points clear at the top.

Striker Steve Howard headed in his sixth goal of the season in the 36th minute to give the Hatters an undeserved lead after a first-half dominated by the visitors.

But Ahmet Brkovic followed up a Rowan Vine shot six minutes into the second-half to double the advantage - and then substitute Gary McSheffrey made it three six minutes from time to confirm his team’s 10th win of a campaign in which they have so far dropped only four points.

Bradford kept in touch with the chasing pack in the top half of the table, fighting back from a goal down to earn a 2-1 win away to Milton Keynes Dons which has moved them up to fifth.

Izale McLeod put the hosts one up in the 20th minute only for a rare goal from Tom Kearney to make it honours even and then Dele Adebola to sneak the points with a last-minute winner.

Mid-table Bournemouth were the best of the rest with a 2-1 win at home to bottom club Stockport thanks to first-half goals from Brian Stock (22) and James Hayter (45). Warren Feeney got the 85th-minute consolation goal against his former club.

Swansea were indebted to an 89th-minute winner from Adrian Forbes for the only goal of the match and all three points at home to Mansfield to put themselves top of League Two.

Previous leaders Yeovil went in front with a Phil Jevons goal at the start of the first-half against Rochdale at Spotland.

But the hosts hit back via Grant Holt (68) and Gary Jones (82) to snatch the spoils. Scunthorpe also went above Yeovil thanks to a 2-0 win at home to Wycombe.
