Leeds ‘lack ambition’

LEEDS are a club desperate for cash with no ambition, according to a leading business expert in the city.

Midfielder James Milner looks like being the next star player to leave Elland Road as the club, who were relegated last season, continue to grapple with huge debts.

Leeds chairman Gerald Krasner has said it would take a “silly offer” to prise the England U-21 international from the club, but speculation is growing that Newcastle are close to a deal. Tottenham are also interested.

Dr Bill Gerrard, a professor of sports management and finance at Leeds University Business School, believes selling the 18-year-old would send out more wrong signals. Selling Milner, he said, shows the club have no money and no ambition.”
