Der Kaiser shows interest in replacing Johansson

GERMANY legend Franz Beckenbauer has revealed his interest in replacing UEFA president Lennart Johansson as the head of European football.

Johansson is tipped to stand down when his latest term in office ends in 2006, with Beckenbauer and former France maestro Michel Platini the early front-runners to take over.

Beckenbauer has admitted for the first time that he would be tempted by the position.
