Arsenal come of age in Europe, says Vieira

PATRICK VIEIRA declared Arsenal have grown up in European terms after coming of age in their hard-fought Champions League victory against PSV Eindhoven.

Vieira noted how far Arsenal had come since the same stage last season, when their naivety was exposed by Inter Milan, who repeatedly caught them on the break in a 3-0 victory, and when Chelsea struck a late quarter-final winner at Highbury.

This time around, it may not have been pretty and was certainly not up to their normal Premiership standards, but Arsene Wenger’s side still showed the patience needed to overcome a resolute PSV team.
