Edu will wait for Valencia

ARSENAL midfielder Edu may have missed out on the chance to join Valencia during the winter transfer window but he says he has no problem waiting until the summer to complete a move to Spain.

The clubs were unable to agree on a fee that would have allowed Edu move to the Primera Liga in January even though in June he will be a free agent.

Edu said: “I am sure it will be worth the wait. The negotiations were between the clubs and I don’t know what happened.

“What I have to do now is think I will be at Arsenal for five months and do things correctly until my contract is up. At the moment all I can do is think about playing for Arsenal.”

He faces a fight to get into the Arsenal team, however, as it appears Patrick Vieira, Mathieu Flamini and Cesc Fabregas are all ahead of him in the pecking order.

And the former Corinthians star admits he could be set for a frustrating spell on the sidelines.
