Bobby apologises to the Glazers

BOBBY CHARLTON has apologised to the Glazer brothers for having to run the gauntlet of angry Man United fans at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Bobby apologises to the Glazers

Charlton spent 90 minutes with Joel, Avi and Bryan Glazer yesterday at the Americans' request as they ended their controversial whistle-stop tour of England with a trip round the United Megastore.

And while the United legend articulated the obvious concerns of the supporters at the takeover, he claimed the ugly scenes which forced the brothers to take refuge in a police van in order to make a safe exit were a step too far. "I apologised to them for what happened. There is no room for violence in football. I don't think they were rattled by it, maybe a bit surprised. I tried to explain they couldn't ignore the fans, who are so emotionally involved in the club but who sometimes do go a bit too far."
