Sorry Leeds outfoxed by Leicester
Two stunning goals in the space of three first-half minutes provided the basis for City’s first victory of the season following a start to the campaign which had merely underlined their status as relegation certainties.
Paul Dickov’s second of the night and Jamie Scowcroft’s bullet header in the final 10 minutes hammered home a point to the doubters who have written off boss Micky Adams’ battlers after just four games of the season.
A wonder strike from Nalis brought the game to life in the 20th minute as he unleashed a 25-yard volley out of the blue which Robinson could not reach as it flew into the net.
Less than three minutes later and route one football provided Leicester’s second for a long goal-kick from Walker was flicked on by Scowcroft and then Bent for Paul Dickov to chest down and volley past Robinson from just inside the area.
Roque Junior was booked in the 55th minute when he missed a simple clearance, allowing Bent to steal a march, only to be promptly hauled back. He was called ashore nine minutes from time but his replacement, Lucas Radebe was at fault for City’s third as he was turned by Dickov who stroked home a 16-yard right-foot drive, followed by a bullet header from Scowcroft in the final 90 seconds.
