Pompey must win to spend

PORTSMOUTH boss Harry Redknapp fears chairman Milan Mandaric will hold back the finance needed for him to remodel his team in the January transfer window unless his team begin to reel off victories.

Pompey face their nearest catchable opposition in West Brom at Fratton Park on Saturday, followed by another home game against West Ham.

“January is miles away,” said Redknapp.

“And we’ve got to get some points in the bag by then.

“But it is going to be hard.

“Until then I’ve got to rely on the people I know, the players who will give me something.

“We’ll deal with January when it comes if we’ve still got a chance of staying up.
