Southgate returns to training

GARETH SOUTHGATE is back in training after suffering a jaw injury playing for England which left him on liquid food for many days.

The Middlesbrough skipper had x-rays after taking a volley full in the face against Sweden. His diet means he has lost weight and manager Steve McClaren believes he will only figure in one of this weekend’s matches against Chelsea and Southampton.

Meanwhile, Stuart Parnaby (back) and Franck Queudrue (ankle) are also back in training after missing Saturday’s win over Bolton. However, striker Joseph-Desire Job is out for two weeks with a hamstring injury, picked up at Bolton.
