Redknapp denies rift with Woodward

HARRY REDKNAPP and Clive Woodward yesterday spoke out in a bid to end continued speculation surrounding their relationship.

Reports in recent weeks have suggested manager Redknapp was on the verge of quitting as Southampton manager over the role of England’s rugby World Cup-winning coach.

Woodward was appointed performance director at Southampton three months ago. But Redknapp, who quit the Portsmouth hot-seat last season over the interference of director of football Vladimir Zajec, insists he has no intention of leaving the club.

“Clive is here to help with the youngsters and does not interfere with me in any way. Clive is a high-profile person so we know you are always going to get these stories,” he said.

” He may turn into a top manager, he may not, only time will tell. But there is absolutely no problem.”
