Robson optimistic over injury to Bellamy

NEWCASTLE boss Bobby Robson has played down fears that striker Craig Bellamy could need another knee operation.

Robson optimistic over injury to Bellamy

The Welshman, 25 today, was left behind as his team-mates flew out to Bangkok on their pre-season tour yesterday after damaging his knee in training on Friday.

But amid suggestions that he could need surgery and would therefore miss the start of the new season, Robson was quick to allay concerns over a player who has had more than his fair share of injury problems. “It is his knee. But it’s not linked to any of his previous injuries, and he’s better off staying at home as a precaution.” Bellamy has already undergone five separate operations on his knees.
