FAI row: Fahy may seek court injunction
The Galway official yesterday arrived at Merrion Square with a reply to the demand to relinquish both his role as honorary secretary and his position on the board. Sources suggest that he is set to pursue a legal route, prior to the matter being discussed at an FAI Board of Management meeting tomorrow afternoon.
Mr Fahy made no comment to waiting media yesterday, as to the contents of the reply. However last Thursday, when news of the dispute first surfaced he vowed to: "Defend my reputation and integrity with all the means at my disposal."
The grievances of the association's president would appear to stem from a technical matter, with a discrepancy in the taking of minutes believed to be the central issue in the latest row to envelop the troubled national body.
Fahy, a 55-year-old Football Association of Irish Schools official, stood in as acting general secretary for a spell when Brendan Menton resigned 18 months ago. He is midway through a four-year term, and has pledged to see out the remainder of his time in the job.
