Ireland slip seven places to 21st in rankings
The disappointing drop follows the 1-0 defeat by France in the World Cup Group Four qualifier at Lansdowne Road last week.
The French are now in sixth, up three from the previous month.
Brazil are still the clear leaders, but the Netherlands move up one place to second, their highest position for more than ten years.
Sweden (10th, up five) return to the top ten after an absence of exactly nine years.
Other significant climbers include Denmark (14th, up four), Poland (17th, up five), Cameroon (22nd, up six), Tunisia (23rd, up eight), Senegal (35th, up five), Switzerland (38th, up four), Belgium (47th, up five) and Australia (50th, up seven).
England’s embarrassing defeat to Northern Ireland last week has cost them their place in the top 10 of the FIFA world rankings.
That 1-0 reverse saw Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side slip from seventh to 11th.
The result lifts Lawrie Sanchez’s side 15 places to 101st.
Scotland are up 12 places to 74th after taking four World Cup points from two games, and Wales move up one place to 82nd.
Meanwhile Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers have both been fined on foot of an eircom League investigation into incidents involving supporters of both clubs at three games in May and June.
Having considered the report of the Investigations Committee, the league’s Board of Control fined Bohemians 3,000 for a protest by supporters, use of flares, lack of sufficient stewards and what it called “the failure of the club to respond in a responsible manner to these events” at the Premier Division game between Bohemians and Shelbourne on May 27.
Shamrock Rovers have been fined 1,000 for a pitch invasion by fans at the end of game between Rovers and Bohs on June 3 and a further 1,000 for the display of offensive banners and another pitch invasion by supporters at the Shelbourne-Rovers game in Tolka Park on June 17.
Both Rovers and Bohs were also warned as to their future conduct.
