New Leverkusen deal for Adler

GERMANY U-21 goalkeeper Rene Adler has signed a new contract with Bayer Leverkusen.

The 20-year-old has penned a new three-year deal and is ready to challenge Hans-Jorg Butt for the number one jersey at the club.

“Rene is one of the top goalkeepers in Europe in his age group,” said Bayer’s director of football Rudi Voller.

“He will also make the breakthrough with us in the Bundesliga.”

Butt is yet to agree a new deal beyond the end of the current campaign.
