Reds can’t force Gerrard to stay

LIVERPOOL chief executive Rick Parry says he faces a huge battle to persuade Steven Gerrard to stay at Anfield.

Parry is praying that the appointment of Rafael Benitez will prove the key to keeping hold of the influential midfielder.

But with Gerrard starring in Portugal with England, Parry and Benitez have an anxious wait ahead amid rumours the player could be the subject of a £30million bid from Chelsea.
