Kanoute passed fit to sign for Tottenham

TOTTENHAM have completed the £3.5million signing of Freddie Kanoute and plan to officially unveil the player today.

The French striker, who will become manager Glenn Hoddle’s third striker signing this summer has been put through the most rigorous of medical examinations, spread over several days to ensure he has suffered no lasting effects from the groin injury which kept him out of action for four months last season. Now the deal is definitely on with Kanoute arriving at Tottenham to join £6.25m Portugal ace Helder Postiga and £1.5m Bobby Zamora from Brighton. West Ham have already secured £1m-rated winger Matthew Etherington from Spurs as part of the deal.

With two of the most injury-hit players in the game already on Spurs’ books in Darren Anderton and Jamie Redknapp and the club starkly aware of the fitness problems that hit the squad again last season, Hoddle wanted to ensure Kanoute, 26, was given a clean bill of health.
