Slick Swisss mash Scots
The only highlight of the evening for the 20,952 crowd who had braved the cold weather was Kenny Miller netting his seventh goal for Scotland.
Scotland had a great chance to take the lead early on when Darren Fletcher released Miller but he rifled straight into the hands of Pascal Zuberbuhler.
But, with 21 minutes gone, Tranquillo Barnetta escaped marker Gary Caldwell to receive the cross from Ricardo Cabanas before rifling home from just inside the box.
Switzerland doubled their advantage when Gygax met a Barnetta cross before bulleting a header past Gordon three minutes before the break.
Scotland started the second half much better and their hard work finally paid off after 58 minutes when Miller pulled a goal back. It was Teale - making his Scotland debut - who supplied the long ball and Miller gratefully collected before racing into the box and slotting past Colorti.
But Scotland’s hopes of scraping a draw from the match were dashed when Switzerland grabbed their third goal of the night after 70 minutes.
Cabanas exchanged a neat one-two with Marcus Streller before rifling an angled shot into the roof of the net from the edge of the six-yard box.
