THE pressure on Deportivo manager, Javier Irureta, to steer his team to a win over Shelbourne tomorrow night was reflected in his decision to take his squad to an isolated training camp 90 miles from their base to prepare.

Irureta was suitably modest and complimentary towards Shelbourne after the exciting scoreless first leg game at Lansdowne Road two weeks ago - “until the first goal is scored this tie is wide open” he said.

The corollary of that is Irureta’s determination to ensure that Deportivo approach this second leg tie with all the thoroughness of a game against one of the major teams in Europe.
