Selling Kewell better than losing him on a free transfer, say Leeds

LEEDS chairman Professor John McKenzie has said selling Harry Kewell would be better than losing him on a free transfer in a year.

Kewell’s contract expires at the end of next season and cash-strapped Leeds are anxious to avoid a similar scenario to the one involving Lee Bowyer last year.

Bowyer’s £9m summer move to Liverpool collapsed and the player sat out most of the remainder of his contract before joining West Ham for a nominal fee.
