Keane brace shoots down Lyon

ROBBIE KEANE was on target twice yesterday as Tottenham defeated French champions Lyon 3-1 to lift the Peace Cup in Seoul.

Keane brace shoots down Lyon

Keane netted a first half double to give Spurs an unassailable lead by half-time, with Gerard Houllier’s side scoring late on to reduce the deficit.

Lyon had Michael Essien in the starting line-up but he could not find a way back into the match for his side before he was substituted.

Spurs were ahead after six minutes when Wayne Routledge’s cross was diverted in off Lyon’s Jeremy Berthod.

Keane then doubled the lead two minutes later, diverting Mido’s cross past France stopper Gregory Coupet.

Lyon had plenty of experience in their line-up - former Arsenal striker Sylvain Wiltord started - but the game was beyond them by half-time as Keane slotted home from another Mido cross.

Ben Arfa pulled one back from the spot with 17 minutes to go following Anthony Gardner’s handball.
