Hoddle sees red at Ziege sending-off

German, Ziege's dismissal at the death, which is set to see him banned for three matches, tarnished a splendid Spurs fightback from two goals down to gain a point against Charlton.

Jason Euell struck twice at White Hart Lane before goals from Robbie Keane and Steffen Iversen dragged Hoddle's team level.

But shortly after Iversen's 86th-minute header, the wind was taken from Spurs' sails as Ziege red-carded in the win at Manchester City on Monday for kicking the ball away twice walked again.

Having been booked for a foul on Kevin Lisbie, Ziege was sent off when referee Andy D'Urso adjudged he had brought down Scott Parker.

"It was very harsh," said Hoddle. "I have since spoken to Scott Parker and he said he didn't touch him.

The only way Ziege can escape a three-match ban, however, is if official D'Urso reviews his decision.

"Christian is distraught for it to happen twice in a week, it is not as though he is going over the top of tackles," said Hoddle. "Yet it is still two sendings-off.

"A lot of managers have been saying for a long time that we need a change which is so easy to be made.

"We are asking for split-second decisions and from that level it is difficult to make decisions so consulting would allow him an extra 10 seconds thinking time."

Charlton manager Alan Curbishley agreed with his opposite number.

"The authorities have to have a look at it but today it happened so near the end that it couldn't have overturned anything," he said.

"In my opinion the referee didn't book enough in the first period."

That was one that Charlton dominated and they might have been more than two goals ahead at the break.

Euell's fifth goal in as many games, his second of the afternoon, doubled their lead three minutes after the restart but Hoddle's three second-half substitutions Simon Davies, Ivesen and Les Ferdinand revitalised his side and ensured a comeback.

"When you look at a team that's 2-0 up the fans expect you to win but we were playing a decent side," said Curbishley, who are now unbeaten in seven Premiership matches.
