Van der Sar completes move

EDWIN van der Sar’s move to Manchester United was finalised yesterday after the goalkeeper passed a medical.

As expected, the 34-year-old has signed a two-year deal after an undisclosed fee was agreed with Fulham.

Meanwhile Mikael Forssell has set his sights on taking Birmingham into Europe after re-joining the club for £3million from Chelsea.

Forssell has signed an initial three-year deal although there is also a two-year option on top of that.

Manager Steve Bruce revealed that he had beaten off eight other Premiership clubs to bring Forssell back to St Andrews after the Finn spent the the 2003/04 campaign on loan there from Chelsea.
