Contract waiting for Larsson, say Barcelona

BARCELONA have told Henrik Larsson a contract is waiting for him when Euro 2004 is finished.

The Sweden striker left Celtic at the end of last season and hinted he was hoping for a move to Spain, with either the Nou Camp or Villarreal the most likely destination.

Now Barcelona president Joan Laporta has publicly admitted the Catalans are ready to offer the 32-year-old a two-year-contract.

“Larsson needs to finish the championship because he is playing very well and we don’t want to disturb him,” Laporta said. “But he knows the offer will be waiting for him. We’re interested in him. We know he’s a player with experience.”
