Drogheda United yesterday agreed to an 11th hour request from Shamrock Rovers for the use of United Park for the Hoops’ home matches during the 2005 season.

This will allow Rovers to satisfy the relevant sections of their club licensing requirements, details of which were due at FAI offices yesterday, and effectively copper-fastens the Dublin side’s continued participation in the eircom League.

That had been put in jeopardy on Wednesday when South Dublin County Council refused an extension to the planning appeal on the club’s stadium development in Tallaght, sparking intense negotiations between Rovers and United officials.
