Game over

THE most pressurised job in Irish sport was up for grabs again last night as Football Association of Ireland (FAI) chiefs rejected Brian Kerr’s impassioned pleas for a second term as Republic of Ireland manager.

Game over

Kerr paid the ultimate price for failing to qualify for next year’s World Cup in Germany after 32 months in charge.

A three-man FAI executive sub-committee will immediately begin the process of finding a replacement for the €400,000-a-year post, according to chief executive John Delaney.
