Wigan win cracker after City’s ‘horror show’
City made a flying start at the JJB Stadium, scoring inside two minutes with a downward header from Antoine Sibierski from just six yards. But Wigan were undaunted, and by the end of the opening 45 minutes were in cruise control as they led 3-1, with a brace from Jason Roberts sandwiching a Lee McCulloch header.
For Roberts, who bagged both goals against Bolton to send Wigan through the last four of the Carling Cup on Tuesday, his double took him to eight goals for the season.
