Gregory drops court action

Sacked Derby manager John Gregory has dropped his High Court action against the Rams and settled for an undisclosed sum the club will pay in instalments “over several years”.

Gregory launched legal proceedings in May after being suspended and then sacked for serious misconduct in the wake of "serious allegations" made against him.

But since his dismissal, Derby have been taken over by new owners and the current board have opted to settle out of court for a sum neither party was prepared to confirm but which is widely reported to be close to £1 million.

The allegations against Gregory which were never made public related to training methods and treatment of players.

The club's then medical manager Stuart Walker and coach Ross MacLaren also parted company with the club during the upheaval.
