Essien warned by Ghana boss

GHANA coach Ratomir Dujkovic has warned midfielder Michael Essien that he could lose his place with the national team.

Dujkovic is angry that the Chelsea-bound Lyon midfielder sat out Wednesday night’s friendly with Senegal at Brentford.

Although he is prepared to forgive the 22-year-old one oversight, he has warned Essien that he will lose his place with the Black Stars if he repeats the gesture.

“This was just a friendly but if he misses the next official match with Uganda we will take measures,” Dujkovic said.

“He was supposed to meet up with us at our hotel on Tuesday where we were waiting for him but we did not know where he was.

“I am not too disappointed because it was a friendly match but I am worried about our next game with Uganda.”

Essien, expected to complete his £26m move to Chelsea this week, turned up at Griffin Park during the second-half of Wednesday night’s match.
