Super-sub Mikel stars for Super Eagles

JOHN Obi Mikel climbed off the bench to inspire Nigeria to a 2-0 win over Zimbabwe in the African Nations Cup in Egypt last night.

Obi Mikel, who is involved in a transfer tug-of-war between Chelsea and Manchester United, advertised why he is in such demand as he scored one and created the other to help The Super Eagles to their second win on the trot and leave them on the verge of qualification.

In the other game yesterday Ghana put themselves back in with a shout of reaching the quarter finals with a hard fought 1-0 win over Senegal.

A 13th minute goal from Borussia Dortmund striker Matthew Amoah was enough to give the World Cup finalists the victory and put them on level points with Senegal in Group D.
