Late Portillo goal saves Real

HOLDERS Real Madrid needed a last-ditch equaliser in Dortmund from Javier Portillo to keep their Champions League defence on course.

Substitute Portillo finished off a Madrid counter-attack two minutes into stoppage time to salvage a 1-1 draw against Borussia at the Westfalenstadion to keep them in second spot and with a quarter-final spot in their sights with two games to go.

Czech international striker Jan Kolller had given the home side a 22nd minute lead and they had claims for a penalty waved aside by referee Graham Poll just before half-time following Christian Worm’s challenge on Ronaldo.
