Redknapp is tops for April

PORTSMOUTH manager Harry Redknapp has picked up April’s Barclaycard manager of the month award.

During April, Portsmouth picked up 10 points from a possible 12, with a win at Leeds, draw at Charlton and impressive home wins over Manchester United and Birmingham.

It is the first time Redknapp has picked up the award this season and a spokesman for the awards panel, which includes representatives from football’s governing bodies, the media and fans, said: “Newly-promoted teams often struggle, but Portsmouth have given their fans great results.

“While Harry is known for creating great team spirit and getting the best out of his players one shouldn’t underestimate his tactical intelligence.”
