Soccer stars score big on rich list

THE beautiful game can lead to a beautiful bank balance, with a new survey revealing dozens of millionaires in the English Premiership.

The explosion of television and advertising revenue in top-flight English football has led to many players still in their 20s joining the ranks of the super-rich, with at least 21 players between the ages of 19 and 30 amassing fortunes ranging from £6 million (€8.7m) to £28m (€40m).

However, some of the top earners on that list have outside interests to supplement already healthy wages. Robbie Fowler, for example, has amassed £28m (€40m) but much of that fortune was accumulated by the dozens of houses Fowler has rented out across Britain.
