O’Leary wants right terms to stay at Villa

ASTON VILLA manager David O’Leary has begun talks with the club to secure his long-term future at Villa Park.

O’Leary wants right terms to stay at Villa

Chairman Doug Ellis opened negotiations after the recent 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers and hopes to secure O’Leary’s services beyond the 18 months left on his current deal.

O’Leary said: “There has been a bit of movement. I’m going to see the chairman again and I’ve told him that of course I’ll stay, but like anything else the terms have got to be right.

“I have been asked through the chairman and some of the players if I want to sign a longer term contract. One thing I’ll never do is break a contract. I have 18 months left and I’ll honour that.

“So without a doubt, I want to stay. I love the club here and I’d love to move it on. If the terms are right I’ll sign there and then. If not, we’ll get on with it,” he said.
