Barton signs new City deal

MANCHESTER City midfielder Joey Barton has signed a new contract which keeps him at the club for the next three years.

The 22-year-old had one year to run on his current deal and celebrated the new arrangement with a goal in his side’s 7-1 Carling Cup win over Barnsley on Tuesday night.

“There was speculation that I would move from this club but I have stated that I want to stay here and be part of a successful Manchester City and hopefully we can get that,” said Barton.
