United set to tour South Africa

MANCHESTER UNITED will head to South Africa for a three-match pre-season tour this summer. Alex Ferguson’s men will begin preparations for the new campaign with a 10-day trip from July 13-23.

Their opposition will be announced when the tour is officially confirmed at the beginning of next month.

United have already made it clear none of their World Cup players will be involved, avoiding the kind of controversy which affected their 2004 USA tour when Paul Scholes, Mikael Silvestre and the Neville brothers had to be flown out to appease sponsors unhappy at the strength of the squad.
