Munster have secured Edwin Edogbo’s services for another season after the Ireland lock signed a one-year contract extension, announced by the province on Monday.
Edogbo, 23, has emerged from two lengthy injury absences to cement his place in the senior Munster squad, his performances earning him an Ireland call-up for this season’s Guinness Six Nations, in which he made his Test debut off the bench in the victory over Italy in February. The first Ireland cap came 18 weeks after his comeback from 22 months on the sidelines having ruptured an Achilles tendon in December 2024.
The Cobh Pirate and Munster academy graduate has made 14 appearances for his province this season, taking his total to 29 senior caps, scoring seven tries, since a debut away to Dragons in 2022. He went on to feature eight times in that URC title-winning campaign of 2022-23 and made his Champions Cup debut this season, at Bath in December.
An Ireland cap might have come soon after his October injury return when he was invited to train with the national squad in Chicago ahead of the November internationals, only to sustain a concussion in his second game back, when he started in the URC win over Leinster at Croke Park.
Edwin’s is the second contract signing of the season for the Edogbo family with younger brother and back-rower Seán in March signing a two-year senior deal for next season upon graduation from the Academy.
