Antoine Dupont confirmed he will be out of action for “a few months” on Sunday after suffering a cruciate ligament injury during France’s victory over Ireland in Dublin the previous day.

The talismanic French captain and scrum-half got his leg caught at a ruck by a falling Tadhg Beirne at Aviva Stadium on 29 minutes, an incident which outraged head coach Fabien Galthié but was ruled accidental on the part of the Ireland lock by match referee Angus Gardner following an off-mic review with his TMO Ian Tempest.
