Ireland have been given a boost ahead of Saturday's huge Six Nations showdown with France in Dublin with news that captain Caelan Doris is trending towards a return from a knee injury in time for the potential Championship-deciding clash.

Doris missed the victory over Wales in Cardiff last time out but after the Ireland squad returned to camp last night, the IRFU confirmed on Monday that both Doris, who suffered the injury against Scotland in round two, and his fellow Leinster back row Jack Conan are heading in a positive direction.
