Caelan Doris nominated for World Rugby Player of the Year

Nominees for World Rugby 2024 have been announced and Ireland captain Caelan Doris has been nominated for the Men's 15s Player of the Year award with the ceremony taking place on November 24 in Monaco.
Rugby World Cup champions South Africa dominate the list with Eben Etzebeth, Cheslin Kolbe and Pieter-Steph du Toit joining Doris.
Du Toit won the award previously in 2019 and has been ever present for the Springboks. Etzebeth is nominated for a second consecutive year having become South Africa's most capped men's player.
Doris was a key player for Ireland during their winning Six Nations campaign and captained Ireland to a second test victory in South Africa.
Jamie Osbourne has been nominated for the Men's 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year alongside Englan's Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, South Africa's Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and New Zealand's Wallace Sititi.
Erin King is among the nominees for the Women's 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year joining Caitlyn Halse of Australia, England's Maddie Feaunati and New Zealand's Hannah King.
James Lowe's try against England in the Six Nations on March 10 is on the shortlist for International Rugby Player's Men's 15s Try of the Year.
Three of the tries come from the 2024 Guinness Six Nations. Lorenzo Pani's try for Italy against Wales and Nolann Le Gerrec final day try for France over England making the shortlist. Georgia's Akaki Tabutsadze end to end try finishes the list.
Terry Kennedy is nominated for the Men's Sevens Player of the Year and is joined by France's Antoine Dupont and Aaron Grandidier Nkanang. Kennedy won the award in 2022 has scored 32 tries duing the 2024 series as Ireland finished the regular season as runners-up behind Argentina.
Dupont's Sevens arrival created headlines and he lived up to the topped billing helping Les Bleus to the HSBC SVNS Championship and Olympic titles scoring two tries in the gold medal match. Grandidier Nkanang played an important part for France also in winning those titles.
