Leo Cullen hailed the performance of double World Cup winner RG Snyman and said he is becoming a key player for Leinster.

The giant Springbok led a weakened Leinster team to their fifth successive bonus point win when they were far too strong for Connacht at Dexcom Stadium in Galway.

“He's has an unbelievably unique skill set, hasn't he? He's such a big man and incredibly skillful,” said Cullen.

“So the guys just around him just need to be alert because you see from the restart, we tried to play out and he gets his hands free and Gus McCarthy is making a big bust up the middle of the field.

“His ability to be able to draw defenders and get to keep the ball alive is fantastic. He’s progressing well. He played 50 minutes the last couple of weeks and 65 today. So, we're getting there, yeah, we are getting there with him.”

But Cullen was just as impressed with the young players striving to break through for the URC leaders after another accomplished display which saw academy players Stephen Smith and Hugh Cooney come off the bench for their senior competitive debuts.

“We've used quite a few players as well, which is a really pleasing thing. We had five academy players in the 23 and two guys making our next to debut. So it was fantastic to see that,” added Cullen.

“We know it is tough here and the wind did play a bit of a role in the game. I thought we started well, some really good intent. It's another win, and we get a bonus point and we have to move on to the next challenge.”
