Munster hooker Diarmuid Barron out of Stormers rematch
Munster’s Diarmuid Barron dejected after the loss to Ulster
Munster hooker Diarmuid Barron is out of Saturday evening's URC Grand Final rematch with Stormers at Thomond Park. Barron suffered a head injury in Friday's defeat by Ulster at Kingspan Stadium. Munster confirmed on Monday that he failed a HIA and will now follow graduated return to play protocols.
Munster will still be without RG Snyman (chest/shoulder), Joey Carbery (wrist), Patrick Campbell (ankle), Roman Salanoa (knee), Mike Haley (hip), Cian Hurley (ankle/achilles), Niall Scannell (groin).
Liam Coombes also suffered a shoulder injury while playing for Garryowen and will see a specialist this week for review.
Meanwhile, reports in South Africa suggest several of the country's URC sides are angling to sign World Cup winning Springbok Snyman when his Munster contract runs out at the end of this season.
His spell in Munster has been dogged by injury but that won't put off several sides entering a race for the lock, reports Afrikaans newspaper, Rapport.
The Stormers may be among those suiters, having recently secured private equity.
