Josh Van der Flier is hard to miss on the field of play with that red scrum cap and those pumping legs, but there is a sense that this quietly-spoken, polite son of Wicklow doesn’t get the notice and the praise that a man of his talents has earned.

Maybe it's just that reserved, boy-next-door nature, or just a mark as to Ireland’s back row strength in depth, but the reigning World Player of the Year never gets a mention when the conversation turns to players that Ireland simply can’t do without.
