‘Wolverine’ Heaslip fit for Castres clash

Leinster rugby got a boost today with the news that Jamie Heaslip is fit to take part in their Champions Cup match against Castres this weekend.

The Leinster captain picked up a shoulder injury in the province’s PRO12 win over Ulster early this month and it was doubtful if he would be fit in time for Saturday’s crucial game.

But he has confirmed he is definitely available for selection, crediting his “wolverine blood” for the recovery.

“The wolverine blood kicked in and I was grand,” Heaslip said today. “Mattie (O'Connor) just thought I needed a week off because he says I’m getting old.

“But I say I’m like Benjamin Button – only getting younger. I’m fine.”

The Leinster team play Castres in the RDS on Saturday January 17 - kick-off 5.30pm. The team is to be announced at noon on Friday.
