Griffin and Harris-Wright return for Elwood’s final game

Outgoing Connacht head coach, Eric Elwood, will be able to call upon centre Eoin Griffin and hooker Jason Harris-Wright for Friday night’s RaboDirect PRO 12 clash against Glasgow Warriors, with both players returning from injury for the Galway man’s last game in charge.

After an injury-plagued season, Elwood will be relieved to have the pair back in contention as he bids to end his 23-year association with the western province on a high note by beating title-chasing Glasgow at the Sportsground.

While there were a few light knocks picked up during last Friday’s draw away to Benetton Treviso, the Connacht management have reported no major fresh injury concerns ahead of the final round of league games.

Last weekend’s results saw Connacht leapfrog Cardiff Blues into eighth spot in the table. If they can maintain that position it will equal the province’s best ever finish which was achieved last season.

Glasgow Warriors have already qualified for the play-offs , but will probably need to win to give themselves any chance of gaining home advantage.

The Warriors last six fixtures have all been won by the home side on the day, and they have not tasted victory on the road since beating Newport Gwent Dragons 60-3 at Rodney Parade in February.

Glasgow’s only win in Ireland since 2009 came against Leinster at RDS in September 2011.

The Warriors are unbeaten in their last three contests with Connacht, but they have not been victorious at the Sportsground since April 2007.

Elwood will name his team to face Glasgow at midday on Thursday.
