Joe Schmidt has described the challenge of leading the Ireland rugby team as "intimidating" after agreeing a three-year contract.

The New Zealand native will take charge of the side up until after the 2016 Six Nations and admits that he will now try to convince Brian O'Driscoll to extend his playing career by at least another season.
